Welcome to Shared Perspective Consulting

Better Experiences, Designed Around People

Shared Perspective Consulting is an Indigenous-owned and operated experience and service design practice led by Chelsea Cross.

Too often, engagement happens after decisions have been made, programs have been developed, or services are already in place. We ask people for feedback when what we really need is to involve them from the beginning.

What if we flipped that approach?

What if the people and communities we serve helped shape the direction from the very start - identifying what matters to them, what they want to see, what they need, and what meaningful outcomes look like?

That’s the thinking behind Shared Perspective.

I work with Indigenous-serving organizations throughout BC to design and improve platforms, programs, services, systems, and processes around the needs and experiences of the people they serve.

My approach is person/ community-centred, collaborative, and grounded in empathy and curiosity. I work alongside organizations to better understand the experiences of the people they serve, identify barriers and opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions that are practical, meaningful, and responsive to community needs.

Through User Experience (UX) and Human Centred Design approaches, I work with Indigenous-serving organizations to:

Listen

Start with community voices, needs and aspirations

Understand

Make experiences visible and identify points of friction

Design Together

Shape solutions with the people who use and deliver services

Keep Improving

Build the capacity to learn, adapt and improve over time

Service Summary
      Community-Centred Engagement

Build meaningful, ongoing relationships with the people you serve by creating practical ways to listen, learn, and respond. I help you develop the foundations, systems, practices, and internal capacity to engage your community regularly, use what you hear to inform direction and decisions, and turn community insight into ongoing opportunities for improvement.

       Experience Design

Understand what it is really like to navigate your platforms, programs, services, systems, and processes. Together, we identify points of friction, confusion, barriers, challenges, and opportunities to create better experiences.

      Service Design

Improve your platforms, programs, services, systems, and processes by starting with the experiences of the people who use them. I help you explore needs, define problems, develop ideas, and test and refine solutions with the people you serve.

       Continuous Support

Get experience and service design expertise in the way your organization needs it. I can provide strategic advice, work alongside your team, build internal skills through coaching and training, or provide ongoing fractional design support, helping you navigate challenges, make community-informed decisions, and turn insight into action.

  • Advisory - Guidance on a specific challenge or decision

  • Partner - Hands-on design support alongside your team

  • Coaching & Training - Build your team’s human-centred design skills

  • Fractional - Ongoing design expertise without a full-time hire

Why Experience Design?

The people who use a service experience it differently than the people who design or deliver it, and that shared perspective matters

  • Community members and service recipients understand what it is like to navigate a service

  • Frontline staff see where processes work and where they break down

  • Leaders understand organizational realities and constraints

  • Partners see how systems connect

  • The people who navigate multiple services often see barriers, gaps and opportunities that no single organization can see on its own

These perspectives aren't simply inputs into a consulting process. They are a source of knowledge, insight and direction.

My role is to bring design expertise, structure and facilitation to the knowledge that already exists within your organization and community. Through listening, collaborative sense-making, experience mapping, co-design, prototyping and iterative improvement, I support organizations in helping make what people know visible, connect the pieces, explore possibilities and move from insight to action.

The goal isn't simply to create something that looks better or works differently, it is to create experiences, services and systems that are more usable, useful, accessible, effective and meaningful for the people they are intended to serve, and more sustainable and workable for the organizations delivering them.

Designing with people, not for them

Shared Perspective Consulting is not traditional consulting, and it is not conventional engagement; I work alongside organizations and support them to understand what is really happening, identify what matters most, and shape practical solutions with the people they serve.

That creates a different kind of relationship, one grounded in empathy, respect, reciprocity, curiosity and shared responsibility for the outcome, because meaningful improvement rarely comes from designing for people from a distance, it comes from creating the conditions for people to shape what affects them.

And when the people who experience a service are meaningfully involved in improving it, organizations gain more than insight, they gain a clearer understanding of what matters most, greater confidence in what to change, and a practical path toward better experiences and better outcomes for the people and communities they're accountable to.
